Frequently Asked Questions

What is Veriscan?

Veriscan is a cloud based SaaS application made up a web based UI and associated API designed to help organizations meet global KYC, AML, CFT, and sanctions screening requirements.

Does VS support real time screening for customer onboarding?

Yes, the Veriscan KYC API is suitable for real time customer interactions such as web sign ups and registration. The API provides immediate screening results that can be used to drive compliance rules during customer registration, for example pausing customer onboarding until an investigation is concluded.

How often is sanction data updated?

Veriscan continuously checks sanction, watchlist and other risk publications for changes and immediately applies any updates to its consolidated database. Many sanctioning jurisdictions announce updates to their publications, while others do not. Veriscan handles each data source individually based on how they are updated.

Can I test Veriscan?

Yes, you may access Veriscan by contacting us and requesting a trial account for the Veriscan demo environment. The demo environment supports all Veriscan features including API access.

What types of businesses use Veriscan?

As KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and regulations expand globally, more types of businesses are required to maintain KYC policies. These businesses include:

  • Banks and Financial Institutions – commercial banks, credit unions, and investment firms.
  • Money Services Businesses (MSBs) – payment processors, money transmitters, currency exchanges, and remittance companies.
  • Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) – Cryptocurrency exchanges, wallet providers, and other digital asset firms are increasingly mandated to implement KYC/AML programs, as seen in FinCEN’s 2024 rules and global FATF guidelines.
  • Investment Advisers (RIA) – Starting in 2026, U.S.-based investment advisers, including those managing private funds, must adopt AML/KYC programs under FinCEN’s February 2024 rule to address risks like money laundering through private investments.
  • Insurance Companies – in particular those dealing with life insurance and annuities.
  • Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) – including real estate agents, casinos, lawyers, notaries, accountants, and trust or company service providers (depending on jurisdiction).

These regulations are defined by the USA PATRIOT Act in the U.S., the EU’s AML Directives, and guidance from FATF (Financial Action Task Force), and they continue to expand as regulators bring more industries under AML/KYC obligations.

How can I migrate to Veriscan?

Veriscan is designed to ease migration from other KYC platforms by accepting most common data import formats such as JSON and CSV and providing a dedicated migration API. Veriscan does not require a specific data format for JSON and CSV imports, only correctly mapped field names. Exports from existing KYC platforms, CRM systems and customer databases are uploaded directly within the Veriscan UI.
